Tripoli, 13 June 13, 2014:
The Joint Intervention and Deterrence Forces of the Ministry of Interior announced yesterday that . . .[restrict]they would provide security at petrol stations in Tripoli.
Forces spokesman Essam Naas told the LANA news agency that security provision at the stations began Thursday morning in the capital, where demand for petrol has been very high and queues have been long.
The decision to provide security at the stations came in response to a demand by the National Oil Corporation (NOC) that the Ministry of Interior step in and help to protect the stations from vandalism and potential violence.
The capital is currently suffering significant fuel shortages because of the closure of many oil terminals across the country. [/restrict]
