Tripoli 9 June 2014:
The Supreme Court has ruled that Ahmed Maetig’s election by the GNC was unconstitutional and . . .[restrict]that Abdullah Al-Thinni therefore remained as Prime Minister.
The court made the ruling after examining a number of appeals about it hearing the case, which was brought by the Ministry of Justice.
A lawyer for Maetig has reportedly said that his client will appeal the decision. It is unclear, however, where such an appeal would be lodged since the Supreme Court is the final legal arbiter in Libya. [/restrict]
