Tripoli, 20 May 20, 2014:
Sabotage is suspected after an oil pipeline . . .[restrict]operated by Waha Oil Company caught fire at the Dahra oilfield.
“The fire started in the oil pipeline of the Dahra oilfield, some 25 kilometres south of the Sidra oil port, during the middle of the night yesterday,” NOC spokesman, Mohammed Al-Harari, told the Libya Herald.
Workers from nearby oilfields rushed to the scene to help extinguish the flames. “We were finally able to put out the fire and have no casualties to report,” added Al-Harari.
Those at the scene suspect that the fire was started deliberately.
Al-Harari said: “A team was deployed to the oilfield to investigate the incident in an effort to determine what really caused the fire.”
Last year, there were clashes at the Dahra oilfield between guards from Ajdabiya and attackers from Sirte arising from a dispute over who should have been guarding the oilfield. [/restrict]
