Tripoli, 19 May 2014:
Algerian oil company Sonatrach is withdrawing . . .[restrict]all its staff from Libya because of security concerns.
The state-owned oil firm has around 50 Algerian nationals working in Libya, according to Reuters. The personnel are leaving today and tomorrow. They follow the Algerian ambassador and his staff who quit their embassy in Tripoli on Friday after gunmen attacked the ambassador’s Hay Andalous residence.
Sonatrach staff returned to Libya in June 2012. Their evacuation comes only weeks after the announcement of a third successive discovery in the Ghadames where Sonatrach, has been working with two Indian oil companies and the National Oil Corporation.
