By Ashraf Abdul-Wahab.

Tripoli, 13 April 2014:

The coast road at Janzour was closed in both directions this evening following the . . .[restrict]kidnapping this morning of an Interior Ministry employee who lives in the district.

Lieutenant Abdul Hakim Nasser Belaid, who works with the Directorate General for Technical Affairs, was seized outside his home as he left to go to work. The abductors had been lying in wait for him.

His family closed the road between Janzour and Zawia, demanding that the authorities find him immediately. They also want the government to put an end to the existence of  militias and ensure security in the country with just the police and armed forces.

The road had been closed again yesterday at Zawia because of protests there against Congress. However, it  reopened today according to the NOC’s spokesman, Mohammed Al-Harrari.

It is not clear how long this latest closure will last or whether it will affect petrol supplies from Zawia to the capital. [/restrict]
