Benghazi, 6 November 2013:
A major in Benghazi’s General Intelligence unit, Busaifi Mabrouk Al-Moughrabi, survived an assassination attempt this . . .[restrict]morning in Benghazi.
Moughrabi was taken to Al-Jalaa hospital after an explosive device was detonated beneath his vehicle, the spokesman for Benghazi Joint Security Room (BJSR), Abdullah Zaidi, told the Libya Herald.
He suffered only minor injuries in the blast, Zaidi said, and was in a stable condition.
The explosion happened at around 9.30 am, he said, when Moughrabi was driving to work in Benghazi’s Birkha district, near the Brega Oil Company headquarters.
On Sunday a member of the 17 February Brigade and his family were murdered in a car blast. Since the incident there have been nightly protests outside the Tibesti hotel by Benghazi citizens calling for local people to take action to stop the killings. [/restrict]
