Tripoli, 8 October:
The daughter of Qaddafi’s former spy chief has reportedly been arrested in a hotel in Tripoli, having entered Libya . . .[restrict]illegally on a false passport.
According to the Reuters news agency, Al-Unood Al-Senussi was detained at a central Tripoli hotel by military police on Saturday.
The information has yet to be officially confirmed, however, with an officer in the SSC’s Tripoli operations room, which has direct responsibility for such matters, informing the Libya Herald yesterday evening that he knew nothing about it.
A senior official in the Interior Ministry has also refused to confirm or deny the story, saying he was not aware of the arrest.
The 18-year old was said to have been found in possession of a “large amount” of US dollars having entered the country from Algeria.
It has been claimed separately that the passport on which she was travelling showed all of her actual names, save for the last, Senussi, which was removed. [/restrict]
