Benghazi photo journalist Khaled Sharif Zintani was killed yesterday by a sniper in Gwrasha as he was covering the latest offensive in the district. Although a freelance photographer, he was embedded with Saiqa special forces who led the attack.
“He was such a good man and we are so sad to lose him”, said friend and fellow journalist Faraj Hamza from Watania TV.
Born in Benghazi, he joined the revolution in 2011 and headed to Zintan from where his family originally came and there covered the progress of its forces. He later headed Zintan TV’s office in Benghazi.
He started working alongside Saiqa at the beginning of Operation Dignity, two years ago.
His last photos to be published, three days ago, were of reconstruction work at Benina airport.
