Officials in the Jebel Nafusa town of Jadu have called for the Tobruk-based House of Representatives . . .[restrict]and the General National Congress in Tripoli to establish a “Libya-Libya” dialogue, separate to the UN-brokered Libya Dialogue. They want them to set up a joint legislative council which would then appoint an interim government.
A delegation from Jadu, headed by one of the municipal councillors, Sulaiman Gasbi, and Salem Lamri from its council of elders, met GNC president Nuri Abu Sahmain today to present their plan.
According to Gasbi, he and others will now go to Tobruk to present it to HoR president Ageela Salah Gwaider.
Amid growing disillusionment with the UN-led process following the news that former UN envoy Bernardino Leon had accepted a job from the UAE, moves to set up a ‘Libya-Libya” dialogue had already started earlier this month with a meeting in Tripoli between some local members of both bodies.
