Tripoli, 8 May 2015:

Misrata is to get its first international-quality hotel when a Radisson Blu opens early next . . .[restrict]year. The 126-room downtown hotel is emerging from the rebuilding and renovation of an existing hotel.

“We have signed a hotel there which we expect to open in 18 months,” said Elie Milky,  Senior Director Business Development, Middle East & Africa of Carlton Rezidor which will be running the new hotel.

It says that Misrata is the most secure town in the country and is an active business hub with its free zone and port.

The hospitality operator has good reason to understand security challenges, since it ran Tripoli’s Radisson Blu Mahary until last August when the last staff were evacuated.

“Libya remains an attractive emerging market for us” said Wolfgang Neumann Rezidor’s president and CEO, “and we carefully monitor its development. Although the overall situation is still at risk, we are confident that Libya will continue to recover from the unrest and to offer opportunities for international investments across all sectors”.

The new Misrata Radisson Blu which will be six kilometres from the airport , will offer three restaurants including one by the swimming pool. There will also be a lobby lounge bar, four meeting rooms, a ballroom, a cinema night club, a gym and spa and a business lounge.

Hotel facilities in Misrata, despite its vision of becoming to be the country’s commercial capital, can at present only be described as basic.   [/restrict]
