The Foreign Minister Mohamed Abdulaziz stopped accepting nominations for embassy jobs abroad from other ministries .
The reason for the ban, according . . .[restrict]to a ministry statement, is that it has been experiencing “significant confusion” as a result of a number of countries refusing to accredit diplomats .
This is, reportedly, because Libya has been exceeding the number of embassies’ personnel agreed with other countries.
Additionally, the statement referred to a lack of commitment on the part of various ministries to cover the financial requirements of those they had nominated as diplomatic envoys, such as salaries, air tickets and medical insurance.
Abdulaziz pointed out to ministries addressed on Thursday that Libyan embassies and missions abroad were unable to bear the costs of all of these personnel, many of whom were unnecessary. He called on all ministers to demonstrate greater cooperation in future.
Officials at the Foreign Ministry declined to comment on the matter. [/restrict]
