The British Embassy is looking to recruit a commercial officer to work in its UK Trade & Investment (UKTI) team which is focused on supporting British companies win business in Libya. Libya is a key market for British companies, with exports up 43 percent from 2012 and strong Ministerial interest leading to investment in UKTI staff and sector specialists.

The starting salary for this position is LYD 2,324.00 per calendar month.  Applicants should be able to start as soon as possible.  This will be a permanent full time position. Whilst flexible working is encouraged there will be occasions where the officer will be required to work outside of normal office hours (i.e. during visits). The successful applicant should be a self-starter who is highly motivated and able to work independently, whilst also being a good team player. As required by the role the officer may also be required to travel within Libya and from time to time to London, Tunisia, Dubai and Malta. The candidate can expect to spend a significant amount of the working day out of the office.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • To identify business opportunities (targets to be set) through personal engagement with relevant stakeholders and by monitoring commercial websites and publications and to post tender notices on the UKTI website.
