Dear Editor,
I follow things happening in Libya through your e-publication. You do a very good job, as far as I can see . . .[restrict]it from my far-away observation-point in Germany.
In reply to your article (“No investigation for bomb-in-a-bag congresswomen“) I was amazed about several points:
- That a politician is not protected by forces of the government;
- That a politician (no matter if male or female) was carrying a killing-device with her/him into official buildings of the government;
- That the grenade was returned to the woman.
The third point is, in fact, the one which shocked me most. How can it be that such devices, as well as any sort of guns and other weapons are not immediately impounded and never returned?
Libya must understand that there is a monopoly of force granted only to the government and its speficially assigned security/armed forces.
As long as weapons are given back you will never see peace coming to your country.
Still hoping for the best of Libya and its people,
Regards,
Andreas Damm
