Minister of Local Government discusses joint programmes and strengthening development cooperation with GIZ

The Ministry of Local Government reported that the National Afforestation Campaign for the 2025-2026 season was launched last Saturday (6 December), from the Ghout al-Rumman Reserve in Tajoura. The campaign aims to plant 26,000 tree saplings in 30 different locations across the country.

The launch took place during a coordination meeting held by Ibrahim Bin Dakhil, Director General of the General Administration for Environmental Sanitation at the Ministry of Local Government, with representatives of the Libyan Organization for Environment and Climate. Several department directors, representatives of relevant government agencies, the private sector, and civil society organizations were also present.

The campaign, part of a comprehensive environmental project, aims to combat desertification, improve air quality, support nature reserves, increase green spaces in cities, and preserve plant diversity.

The plan also includes accompanying activities such as climate change awareness campaigns, participation in conferences, and support for major environmental initiatives.
