General Authority for Communications and Informatics agrees MoU with Committee for Libya-Africa Transit Corridors Project

Adopting Libya’s National Strategy for the Communications and Informatics Sector 2023-2027

The General Authority for Communications and Informatics (Logo GACI).

The General Authority for Communications and Informatics agreed on a draft MoU with the Joint Higher Committee for the Libya-Africa Transit Corridors Project.

The agreement was concluded during a meeting between the two parties held yesterday at the General Authority’s Tripoli headquarters.

The MoU will serve as a working framework under which the various phases of this important national project will be implemented.

The General Authority for Communications and Informatics said it plays a key role in implementing such sovereign projects, which aim to diversify sources of income and promote economic and social development.

It said it considers this a key factor in achieving the objectives of the National Strategic Plan for the Telecommunications and Informatics Sector 2023-2027, through the goal of preparing Libya to become an international transit hub for communications and information across Africa.

The meeting was attended by the Director General of the General Administration of Regulatory Affairs at the Authority, Engineer Riyad Al-Zaytouni, and the Director General of the General Administration for Telecommunications Sector Development at the Authority, Dr. Abdul Qader Jumaa Al-Zlitni. The Higher Committee was represented by the Head of the Land Transport Authority, Engineer Ahmed Abu Wadan; the Director of the Strategic Planning Department at the Libya Africa Investment Portfolio, Engineer Radwan Al-Nafati; and a member of the Board of Directors of the Libya Africa Investment Portfolio, Mr. Khalifa Al-Shaibani.
