Health and Higher Education Ministries discuss localising postgraduate medical studies within Libyan universities

‎The Ministry of Health discussed with the Ministry of Higher Education the localisation of postgraduate programmes and the enhancement of coordination in teaching hospitals‎.

‎The discussions came during an extensive meeting yesterday at the Ministry of Health’s Tripoli headquarters between the Undersecretary General of the Ministry of Health / Acting Health Minister, Mohamed Al-Ghouj, and the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Omran Al-Qaib, along with the Director General of the Emergency Medicine and Support Authority, a several members of the Medical Specialties Council, deans of medical faculties, vice deans of scientific affairs, and representatives of the competent departments in the Ministry.‎

‎Raise the efficiency of health sector
 meeting discussed the mechanisms of localising postgraduate medical programmes within Libyan universities, as part of the Ministry’s plan to qualify national cadres in cooperation with international universities, in order to raise the efficiency of the health sector and strengthen the medical education system.‎

‎Integration between academic training and health services
The meeting also discussed ways to enhance coordination between the Ministries of Health and Higher Education with regard to teaching hospitals, to ensure integration between academic training and health services, and to improve the quality of medical care provided to citizens‎
