Benghazi Chamber of Commerce participates in meeting of the follow up committee on the Libyan-Egyptian land border crossing

The Benghazi Chamber of Commerce participated in the meeting of the committee to follow up the work at the Libyan-Egyptian land border crossing. The participation of the Chamber was represented by Moneim Al-Saiti. Chairman of the Board of Directors – Designate and included representatives ‎of the Customs Authority and the Director of the Libyan-Egyptian Chamber, Mr. Mohamed Rafi.‎

‎On the Egyptian side, the representation included the Head of the Central Administration of Customs of the Western Region , Land Ports Affairs ‎and the Secretary General of Alexandria Chamber of Commerce‎.

‎Mechanisms to solve problems and bottlenecks facing traders
The Benghazi Chamber of Commerce reminded that the meeting is based on a series of previous meetings, which came based on the interest of the two sides to accelerate the rotation of the wheel of trade between the two countries. It also reflects a keenness to follow up the work of the committee in charge in order to find out the recommendations that were among the outputs of previous meetings to discuss ways to adopt mechanisms to solve problems and bottlenecks facing traders, businessmen and owners of brands of Egyptian products.‎

‎The meeting included discussing mechanisms to help small investors from both sides, especially small traders and farmers, determining the controls of import and export operations and circulating the need to adhere to health restrictions.‎

‎Exchange of customs data
At the level of customs cooperation, it was agreed to exchange data, administrative assistance and organize some documents, the most important of which are customs notification, customs violations and adherence to the balance of truckloads.‎

Reference was also made to the waiting time for trucks and congestion at the border crossing for shipments coming from Egypt, especially cement, deemed a strategic commodity with the reconstruction witnessed by Libya.‎
