The Director of the Media Office at the Libyan Export Promotion Centre (LEPC), Mohamed Al-Belaili, stated in an exclusive interview with Libya Herald that Bella Foodstuff Industry, part of the Al-Sahel Holding Group and registered in the LEPC’s Exporters’ Registry, began exporting its Libyan produced biscuit to the Gambia in the last few days. More than one shipment was loaded with different types of biscuits in several flavours.

In the same context, the Director of the Export Department at Al Sahel Holding Group, Saber Jaber, said in an exclusive statement to Libya Herald that export operations are carried out according to supply orders from African companies after the door was opened to export Libyan products according to arrangements made by the LEPC.

Exports to Chad, Cameroon and Senegal
He said exports were made of more than one container of baby diapers/nappies to Chad and Senegal, in addition to exporting several containers of pasta of different shapes to Cameroon and Chad. He added that currently, orders are being accepted by his group of companies from several African countries of food commodities the export of which export will be coordinated during the coming period.

Satisfy local demand for several products
Saber referred to Al Sahel Holding Group’s plan to fully satisfy local demand for food supplies of all kinds, as well as diapers and some childcare supplies, especially those whose primary components are made from local raw materials and are available in good economic quantities.

Libyan products competitive in sub-Saharan African markets
Regarding the competitive advantage of foodstuffs manufactured in Libya, Saber emphasized the ability of Libyan products to compete in sub-Saharan markets, especially in terms of high quality and good prices compared to foodstuffs of European or Asian origin or even manufactured within the African countries themselves. He explained that this ability to compete comes from an industrial and commercial plan, its most important strategic objectives were quality first and a fair and good price for the products second. Therefore, he concluded, there is a demand from several African companies for the products of Al-Sahel Holding Group of Companies manufactured in its Libyan factories.
