Aldabaiba stresses need to activate agricultural projects in cooperation with private sector

(Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock).

Tripoli-based Libyan Prime Minister, Abd Alhamid Aldabaiba, stressed the need to focus on activating agricultural projects and taking care of them, and cooperating with the private sector to reach self-sufficiency in basic items. He also stressed the need to provide the needs of the agricultural police to play its role in protecting agricultural lands.

Aldabaiba made the statement during his inspection visit to the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock on Thursday, accompanied by the Acting Minister of Economy and Trade, Suhail Abu Shiha, to follow up on the ministry’s conditions and on its 2023 plan. He was received by the Deputy Prime Minister and Acting Minister of Agriculture, Hussein al-Gatrani.

During the visit, an expanded meeting was held with the directors of ministries, offices and agencies affiliated with the ministry, in the presence of the undersecretaries of the ministry and the Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs.

The meeting was devoted to following up the measures taken by the Ministry to provide fodder for breeders, supplying fertilizers, medicines and pesticides to farmers, and discussing the Ministry’s plan to activate agricultural projects and the participation of the private sector in these projects. The role of the Libyan Fertilizer Company in providing urea to farmers was also discussed.

It was agreed that the amount allocated to the Ministry of Agriculture of urea should be increased to cover the local need, and the actual start of subsidizing feed for breeders, and providing them with all facilities, as well as starting procedures for providing fertilizers, medicines and pesticides.
