Libya’s Military Industrialisation Authority seeks to offer its capabilities to the country’s civilian sectors. The revelation came Wednesday during a visit by Oil and Gas Minister, Mohamed Aoun, to one of the Authority’s factories in Sbea.

Supporting the industrial sector
The Ministry of Industry and Minerals, the Ministry in charge of the Military Industrialisation Authority, said the visit comes within its efforts to raise the efficiency of Libyan industries and support the national industry with quality that creates fair competition, and in continuous coordination between the Ministry of Industry and Minerals and the Ministry of Oil and Gas.

Supporting the oil and gas sector
The Ministry of Industry and Minerals said the factory is the pride of national industry in the military field and civil use as well for industrial and oil companies. It said Minister Aoun’s visit is part of its efforts to introduce this industrial edifice and its products to the oil and gas sector to benefit from in oil operations of all kinds.

Manufacturing to international specifications
It added that the industrial complex, could, according to international specifications and standards, contribute to the production and provision of some requirements for oil operations and the rest of the other industrial sectors. This could include spare parts and mechanical requirements for the operation and maintenance of much equipment.

Manufacture of cooking gas cylinders
The Ministry of Industry and Minerals said the industrial complex can, for example, manufacture cooking gas cylinders and cover a large amount of the needs of the local market in accordance with safety requirements and specifications.

Looking for local market share
The Ministry of Industry and Minerals said the Military Industrialisation Authority faces some challenges which it and the Ministry of Oil and Gas are trying to help it overcome. These include helping the Military Industrialisation Authority market its spare parts and gain a market share for its products in the local market.

Creating a vision to exploit capabilities
Accordingly, during the visit, discussions took place regarding ways to exploit the available human capabilities, equipment, and the training centre, and the possibility of exploiting and sharing these resources with the rest of the sectors in the two ministries.

Creating a joint committee
It was also agreed that a committee would be formed between the Military Industrialisation Authority and the Ministry of Industry and Minerals for further detailed discussions. This will hopefully lead to a vision of how Libyan factories in the industrial and oil sector, as well as other fields, can benefit from the outputs of the Military Industrialisation Authority.

A visit to the rest of the Military Industrialisation Authority’s factories was also agreed.
