Italian multinational industrial group Maccaferri made a visual presentation on specialised asphalt solutions for airports at the headquarters of Libya’s Airports Authority yesterday.
The presentation reviewed the materials used to install and support asphalt paving layers during construction and maintenance of airstrips, corridors, and aprons.
Technical procedures appropriate for the paving process as well as methods of treating and isolating water near the surface were discussed. These included measures to be taken to ensure that water does not rise to the upper layers to avoid the occurrence of slumps and collapses in the asphalt layers, especially when planes are passing over them.
