OMV:  Senior Explorationist (f/m)

 

Your responsibilities:

  • ?Project Leader for selected OMV Libya operated and . . .[restrict]non-operated exploration and appraisal activities.
  • ?Quality assurance of OMV Libya’s non-operated exploration assets by means of direct interaction with the operators and monitoring/challenging their technical work.
  • ?Support the Exploration Team Leader with the generation and tracking of budgets and AFEs related to selected OMV Libya exploration and appraisal activities
  • ?Supervision and mentoring of junior technical staff within OMV Libya’s G&G team
  • Providing specialist technical advice, input and supervision to OMV Libya’s technical teams, particularly in geological sub-disciplines (e.g. structural geology, sequence stratigraphy, petrophysics, petroleum source geochemistry, basin modelling, reservoir characterisation, play fairway analysis)
  • ?Conduct geological studies (source/reservoir/seal/structure) at both prospect and regional levels using both well and seismic data
  • ?Contribute geological/geophysical input into basin analysis and regional prospectivity studies of new venture opportunities
  • ?Undertake prospect evaluation including risk assessment and resource potential
  • ?Attendance and presentations at workshops, peer reviews and Technical Committee Meetings. International travel will be required
  • ?Assist with preparation of well proposals and field programs. It is expected that the Senior Explorationist may spend time in the field and/or offshore during the drilling of relevant exploration and/or appraisal wells
  • ?Assume delegated authority for the Exploration Team Leader when required
  • ?Demonstrate and promote a high level of HSE awareness and behaviour

  • ?University degree in Geophysics or Geology
  • Professional experience: 5 to 10 years or more
  • ?Excellent background in exploration geophysics and/or geology in multiple basins/countries and geological environments
  • Excellent 2D/3D seismic interpretation skills (preferably with PETREL) and mapping software
  • ?Good knowledge of play fairway analysis, structural geology, sequence stratigraphy, petrophysics, geochemistry, reservoir characterisation, prospect assessment and risk analysis
  • ?Knowledge of geophysical methods, seismic acquisition, processing, depth imaging and quantitative interpretation
  • ?Experienced user of probabilistic risking and volumetrics software, preferably GeoX
  • ?Innovative and creative explorationist
  • ?Open to cultural challenges, excellent spoken/written English and good presentation skills
  • ?Libyan Nationality
