A workshop on restructuring and resolving Non-Performing Loans (NPLs) is being held Tripoli with the participation of 30 professionals from the Libyan banking sector.
The event is organized by the Union of Arab Banks in cooperation with the Libyan Banks Union and sponsored by Jumhouria Bank,
The Union of Arab Banks reports that the programme aims to familiarize participants with Non-Performing Loans within the banking sector, as well as how to identify early warning signs and the factors leading to the deterioration of credit account performance.
It will also cover the management of Non-Performing Loan portfolios and the conduct of effective negotiations with clients to achieve the best possible settlement scenario, while determining appropriate terms, conditions, and guarantees.
Practical case studies spanning various industries and sectors will be discussed to reinforce the concepts and principles presented during the program.
The workshop was opened by Mr. Hany Ali Abdullah, Regional Director for Egypt, Libya, and Sudan; Mr. Ali Al-Zaidi, Director General of the Libyan Banks Union; Dr. Abdullah Aoun, Head of Marketing and Product Development at Jumhouria Bank; and Dr. Walid Al-Baraei, Head of the Debt Restructuring and Resolution Sector at Banque Misr (the workshop’s instructor).
