Misrata Free Zone (MFZ) announced yesterday that it had signed an investment agreement with Turkish company MEKA Global to establish and operate a major branch within the Zone.
Founded in Turkey in 1987, MEKA specialises in the manufacture of concrete mixing plants and crushing and screening equipment. It has a presence in over 110 countries and operates more than 4,500 facilities worldwide.
MFZ said the project is expected to support the construction and contracting sector and facilitate the transfer of manufacturing, assembly, and technical service operations to Libya, while also creating employment and training opportunities for the local workforce.
The project, MFZ added, also reinforces its role as an industrial and logistical hub connecting the Libyan market with African markets, leveraging its strategic location and seaport capabilities to support trade and re-export activities.
