The Ministry of Industry and Minerals reported today that its Undersecretary, Mustafa Al-Samou, continued his meetings and direct discussions with the delegation of the Hungarian company Rotary International Ltd in a meeting at his Tripoli office.
This meeting comes in continuation of the previous meetings that were held at the Ministry’s headquarters in the city of Misrata, in order to follow up on studying the initial proposal submitted by the company regarding the establishment of a modern and advanced water desalination plant in Libya.
The Hungarian company's proposal is based on establishing the plant using environmentally friendly techniques and modern green technology, with a focus on supporting industrial activities and meeting water needs to advance development and provide sustainable solutions for water resources.
Supporting foreign direct investments and localize strategic projects
At the conclusion of the meeting, the Undersecretary reaffirmed the Ministry of Industry and Minerals’ keenness to support foreign direct investments and localize strategic projects within the country through technology transfer and providing a suitable environment for international companies wishing to develop the Libyan industrial sector.
November 2025 MoU
It will be recalled that in November 2025 the Ministry of Industry and Minerals signed a memorandum of understanding with Rotary International Company Limited which entailed the two parties agreeing to implement joint investment projects in the field of infrastructure, such as water desalination and purification projects and public services.
Equally, in October 2025, the Undersecretary had discussed in a meeting with the company a preliminary proposal to establish a cement factory in Libya.
