The Tripoli based Libyan Minister of Industry and Minerals, Mohamed Abdel-Gader, inaugurated the first coordination meeting on the EU-Libya Initiative for Cleaner Energy and Industry with the EU Delegation to Libya and Expertise France at the Ministry’s headquarters in Tripoli today.
The meeting addressed avenues for cooperation between the Ministry and the organization under the initiative.
Discussions focused on mechanisms to support energy efficiency and foster the transition toward green industry in Libya across three main tracks:
· Developing the regulatory framework and institutional coordination
· Building capacity and transferring international expertise
· Implementing pilot projects.
The French delegation included the Head of Energy Cooperation at the EU Delegation to Libya, the Programme Director for Expertise France in Libya, and the organization’s Deputy Programme Director, along with their accompanying team.
Representing the Ministry were the Director General of the Green Industry Transition Centre, the Director of the Ministry’s International Cooperation Office, and several representatives from the Centre.
The meeting concluded by emphasizing the importance of strengthening cooperation between the two sides to support sustainable industrial development efforts and achieve the goals of transitioning toward a more efficient and sustainable economy in Libya.
