The Zuwara Anti-Smuggling and Drugs Unit of the Libyan Customs Authority seized a vehicle with Algerian plates at the Ras Ajdir border crossing after a thorough inspection.
The operation uncovered €135,800 in cash and eight gold bars weighing approximately 25 kg, concealed within the vehicle’s structure.
The case was referred to the Al-Zawia Summary Prosecution for Corruption Crimes, with the seized items placed under custody pending legal proceedings.
The Customs Authority said this seizure is part of its efforts to strengthen oversight at border crossings and counter attempts to smuggle funds and precious metals, thereby contributing to the protection of the national economy and the enhancement of border security and cross-border transit.
