The Libyan Business Council (LBC) held a meeting yesterday at the headquarters of the Privatization and Investment Board (PIB) with the Commercial Attaché of the Greek Embassy in Libya.
The meeting was chaired by the PIB’s Executive Director and attended by the executive management of both the PIB and the Libyan Businessmen Council.
Encouraging Greek companies to invest through Investment Law No. 9 of 2010
The meeting addressed mechanisms to enhance economic cooperation between Libya and Greece and ways to encourage Greek companies to explore investment opportunities in the Libyan market—specifically within the framework of Law No. 9 of 2010 on Investment Promotion—and how to leverage this law to create an effective investment environment.
Discussions also covered supporting trade and developing partnerships between private sector entities in both countries.
"Libya Means Business" initiative
Furthermore, the meeting touched upon the "Libya Means Business" initiative, which the Libyan Businessmen Council aims to launch under the umbrella of the PIB.
Connecting private sector investors
This initiative seeks to support foreign direct investment, expand partnership opportunities between international investors and the Libyan private sector, and connect viable investment opportunities with partners capable of executing them.
Greek Business Forum to be held in Tripoli
Attendees agreed to organize a Greek Business Forum in Tripoli focusing on priority sectors and available investment and partnership opportunities for the private sector, while maintaining coordination among the concerned parties to transform investment opportunities into concrete, actionable projects.
The LBC said this initiative is part of broader efforts to strengthen the presence of Greek companies in the Libyan market, open direct channels of cooperation between the business communities of both countries, and promote Libya’s image as a promising market and an environment designed to attract high-quality investments and partnerships.
