The Ministry of Planning is attempting to addressed ways to enhance the alignment between educational outputs and labour market needs.
This came during a meeting between the Minister of Planning, Mohamed Youssef Al-Zaidani and Dr. Issa Saeed Al-Jadi—an expert in education and labour market requirements—and Dr. Mustafa Al-Arqat, Director General of the Planning Institute, at the Minister’s Tripoli office.
Narrowing the gap between educational outputs and market demand
The Ministry said the aim is to narrow the gap between the specializations and skills provided by educational institutions and the actual demands of the labour market, thereby supporting human capital development and improving employment opportunities within the framework of achieving the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals.
Discussions also focused on the importance of developing mechanisms for coordination and integration among entities concerned with education, planning, and employment. Emphasis was placed on utilizing data and indicators regarding labour market needs to guide educational and training programs and specializations, thereby strengthening the educational system's ability to respond to economic shifts and development requirements.
Formation of a national team to prepare proposal
At the conclusion of the meeting, it was agreed to form a national team comprising relevant stakeholders. This team will be tasked with preparing a comprehensive proposal to establish the necessary mechanisms and policies for aligning educational outputs with labour market needs, in a manner that serves national development priorities and contributes to building a qualified national workforce capable of meeting current and future labour market demands.
