The Agricultural Police, accompanied by Vets and Municipality police, report that they are continuing preventative measures after cases of foot-and-mouth disease were identified in both eastern and western Libya since 27 June.

Patrols of the Agricultural Police closed the entrances leading in the Greater Tripoli area and to some municipalities and prevented the transportation of animals between areas, as a precautionary measure to prevent the spread of the disease.

Inspection campaigns on livestock and sheep breeding sheds have also been conducted.‎ Some infected farms have been sealed. Inspections have also been conducted of popular livestock markets with some markets closed.

As part of the precautionary measures to prevent the spread of the disease, some municipalities sprayed several animal enclosures.
