The Tripoli based Libyan Ministry of Health announced today that its Minister, Mohamed Al-Ghouj, held a meeting with representatives of the Italian Industrial Federation (Confindustria) on the sidelines of his official visit to Rome.
The Ministry said this comes as part of efforts to strengthen international cooperation and expand partnerships within the health industry.
The meeting addressed opportunities for cooperation between the Ministry of Health and the Italian Industrial Federation across several priority areas. Key topics included supporting health infrastructure development projects, localizing the pharmaceutical and medical supply industries, boosting investment in the health sector, and transferring modern expertise and technologies to Libya.
The two sides also discussed mechanisms to encourage Italian companies to participate in implementing health projects and to expand cooperation in training and professional development. These initiatives aim to enhance the efficiency of health services and achieve the Ministry's goals of developing the health sector in line with international best practices.
The Minister of Health emphasized the Ministry's commitment to building strategic partnerships with Italian institutions and companies. Such partnerships support efforts to rehabilitate and develop the healthcare system while fostering investment opportunities and knowledge transfer for the mutual benefit of both nations.
Meeting Italian health minister Orazio Schillaci in Rome
The meeting with Confindustria followed on from a meeting the previous day in Rome with the Italian Minister of Health, Orazio Schillaci.
In that meeting, prospects for strengthening health cooperation between the two nations were discussed. The discussion focused on supporting the training and professional development of medical personnel, enhancing collaboration in bone marrow transplantation, and leveraging Italian expertise to improve health services.
The two sides also discussed mechanisms for activating joint agreements and expanding partnerships between health institutions in both countries. They emphasized the importance of continued coordination and the establishment of implementation mechanisms to follow up on agreed-upon measures, thereby supporting efforts to develop Libya's health sector.
The Libyan Health ministry said this meeting is part of its ongoing efforts to expand international partnerships and benefit from successful experiences and expertise, aiming to support health sector development programs and elevate the quality of health services provided to citizens.
