The Tripoli based Libyan Deputy Prime Minister, and Head of the Southern Development and Improvement Authority, Salem Al-Zadma, met in Tripoli yesterday with the Italian Ambassador to Libya, Gianluca Alberini, to discuss prospects for bilateral cooperation and ways to expand partnerships in development and service sectors, particularly in the southern regions.

The meeting addressed projects and programmes implemented by Italian companies and organizations in southern Libya, encompassing agriculture, training, capacity building, and their role in supporting local development efforts and improving services for citizens.

The two sides also discussed strengthening development partnerships to meet the needs of the southern regions, as well as several issues of mutual interest, primarily supporting stability, enhancing border security, and combating organized crime, thereby creating the appropriate conditions for achieving sustainable development.

Al-Zadma emphasized the importance of expanding cooperation with Italy and leveraging shared expertise and programmes to support development and improve services, contributing to balanced and comprehensive development across southern Libya.
