Benghazi Chamber of Commerce received the Chargé d’affaires of the Philippine Embassy in Libya, Rodrigo C. Atienza, and his accompanying delegation last Thursday, 5 February. The visit comes as part of efforts aimed at strengthening economic and trade cooperation between the two sides.
The Benghazi Chamber delegation included the Chamber’s Chairman and Director General, as well as the Director General of the Al-Jabal Al-Akhdar Chamber of Commerce.
During the meeting, ways to cooperate in several areas of mutual interest were discussed, along with opportunities to enhance trade and support partnerships between the public and private sectors. Benghazi Chamber said this aims to open new horizons for economic cooperation and the exchange of expertise between the two countries.
Benghazi presented as a promising economic destination
Benghazi was also presented as a promising economic destination, given its strategic geographical location, which qualifies it to play a pivotal role in transit trade through the Port of Benghazi as a free zone.
Encouraging FDI in the maritime sector
The meeting also addressed encouraging businesspeople to invest in the maritime sector. The Chamber of Commerce expressed its desire to promote investment in this sector, leveraging the Philippines’ expertise and establishing partnerships with specialized companies.
