The Attorney General’s Office reported today that the Investigators into the falsification of civil status data found evidence of negligence in the management of the data system at the Sirte Central Civil Registry Office.
They discovered irregularities involving the falsification of family records, which resulted in the issuance of 598 National Identification Numbers to foreigners. These individuals then used documents based on these falsified records and numbers to obtain full citizenship rights.
The investigation necessitated the issuance of a measure to suspend the National Identification Numbers in question, review the related administrative transactions, and take the necessary steps to initiate criminal proceedings against those who committed the falsification.
