The Attorney General’s Office reported yesterday that the Public Prosecution ordered the detention of a former Director General of the National Investment Company (affiliated with the Ministry of Finance) and a former Director of the company’s Investment Department.
The Public Prosecutor, at the Attorney General’s office, examined evidence of the two officials’ breach of their assigned duties by engaging in conduct contrary to the rules of public funds management. This included disbursing funds for purposes other than investment and failing to safeguard 55,648,000 dinars of the company’s funds.
Consequently, the investigator ordered their pretrial detention pending further investigation and continued the investigation into the remaining individuals responsible for the misappropriation of public funds.
