Tripoli based Libyan Prime Minister Abd Alhamid Aldabaiba on followed up in a meeting at his Tripoli office yesterday on the efforts of the Central Bank of Libya and commercial banks to support the government’s plan to revive the economy and finance housing projects.
The meeting discussed the role of banks in moving the wheel of the economy, especially supporting real estate and investment projects, participating in the implementation of the Prime Minister’s initiative to complete and implement 150,000 housing units, and providing the necessary financial tools to ensure their success.
During the meeting, Aldabaiba stressed the importance of the role of banks in supporting the national economy, stressing that the government will continue to overcome obstacles and provide the necessary support for the implementation of housing projects and vital investment initiatives, in a way that promotes sustainable development and supports citizens.
The National Housing and Real Estate Development Programme, represented by its Director General, Faisal bin Dardaf, reviewed the proposals for financing mechanisms that have been completed with the aim of strengthening the housing sector and facilitating access to financing for vital projects.
The attendees agreed to hold a subsequent meeting to complete the discussion and determine the final financing mechanisms in accordance with the vision of the government and the Central Bank, in order to ensure the provision of an effective financing environment that supports housing initiatives and the national economy.
The meeting was attended by the Board Member of the Central Bank of Libya, Reda Gargab, the General Managers of Jumhuriya, North Africa, Al-Wafa and the External Bank, as well as the Director General of the Savings and Real Estate Investment Bank, and the Director General of the National Programme for Housing and Real Estate Development.
