The Attorney General’s Office reported last Sunday (23 November) that the Public Prosecutor’s Office learned of the distribution of a product intended for sterilizing medical equipment under the commercial name Instru Zym in the local market, even though the German manufacturing company (DR. DEPPE GMBH) denied exporting any quantities of the product to Libya five years ago.
The investigation by the Judicial Control Affairs Unit revealed the validity of what the manufacturer had warned about regarding the use of the product in health institutions. Accordingly, the Public Prosecutor’s Office investigated, the scope of which was carried out by the General Administration for Combating Smuggling and Drugs at the Customs Authority.
The investigation resulted in identifying the counterfeiting premises of the trademark, seizing a quantity of the counterfeit material on which the counterfeit trademark was placed, and arresting one of the managers of an executive body specializing in importing medical supplies. The investigator decided to detain him pending investigation and ordered the arrest and bringing in of the remaining participants.
