AGOCO reactivates stalled old Nafoura well to produce 1,200 bpd

The Arabian Gulf Oil Company (AGOCO) reported today that it had achieved, in cooperation with Schlumberger SLB, what it referred to as ‘‘a quantum leap in the productivity’’ of the O5-NC8 in the Hamada field well, after implementing a comprehensive rehabilitation process using the latest technologies.

The process, it explained, resulted in increasing production from 27 barrels per day (bpd) to 692 bpd, while reducing the percentage of associated water from 90% to 18%.

AGOCO said this achievement comes as part of the National Oil Corporation’s (NOC) plan to increase production rates and achieve operational sustainability of national resources.

Using Libyan cadres to implement international technologies
The company said the implementation of the process was supervised by its Production Engineering Department, relying on highly qualified national expertise and integrating it with international technologies and expertise.

Other wells being assessed
This success, AGOCO added, is an indicator of AGOCO’s ability to employ advanced technical solutions in developing fields with limited production.

It revealed that several other wells are currently being evaluated for similar operations, in support of the NOC’s goals of increasing production capacity and achieving sustainability in the Libyan oil sector.
