Libya’s Tripoli based Ministry of Health announced last Tuesday (26 August) the imminent launch of an advanced electronic system linked to the National ID Number aimed at eliminating the duplication of receiving treatment and limiting any leakage in the dispensing of insulin medications.
The system will be operated within health facilities through doctors, pharmacists, and data entry clerks. Treatment will be dispensed only after a medical examination and the determination of the dose by a specialized doctor, to ensure that the medicine reaches those who need it.
The Pharmacy Department at the Ministry of Health will also supervise the mechanism of dispensing, monitoring needs and recycling of medicines, in a step that enhances the efficiency of the national stock and maintains the sustainability of vital supplies for patients
