UK Minister visits Tripoli – agreement signed to improve quality of English teaching at Libyan educational establishments

‎Under the supervision of the Tripoli based Libyan Prime Minister‎, Abd Alhamid Aldabaiba, an agreement was signed in Tripoli yesterday (14 July) to implement ‎initiative to improve English language teaching in educational institutions, as part of the government’s efforts to improve the quality of education and raise the efficiency of the educational process in line with international standards.‎

‎The signing ceremony took place between the Acting Minister of Education and the British Council, in the presence of the British Minister of State for the Middle East and North Africa, Hamish Faulkner, and the British Ambassador to Libya.‎

‎Reviewing curricula in line with the student needs and labour market‎
The initiative aims to improve ‎‎the level of English language teaching‎‎ in Libyan schools and universities, by reviewing and developing educational curricula for basic education and beyond, and updating academic programmes and courses in English language faculties at universities, in line with the needs of students and the labour market. ‎

‎The Prime Minister’s initiative also seeks to raise the efficiency of teachers in this field, through the implementation of specialized training and qualification programmes, based on the latest educational methods, and under the supervision of accredited experts. ‎
