Tripoli based Libyan Prime Minister Abdel Alhamid Aldabaiba announced the appointment of Mustafa Ali Al-Wahishi yesterday as the new head of the Internal Security Agency (ISA).

Al-Wahishi replaces Lufti Al-Harari who has either fled Libya or is in hiding following the killing of the Support and Stability Apparatus (SSA ) militia leader, and Al-Harari’s ally, Abdelghani Ghnewa Al-Kikly.

Mustafa Ali Al-Wahishi was born in Zintan. He served as a member of the Central Security Directorate of the Libyan Intelligence Service. He was responsible for investigations in the Economic Crimes Department and was linked to a case related to the International Marketing Department of the National Oil Corporation. He was kidnapped by an armed group in Tripoli in 2024 and later released after interventions.
