In a statement released today, the United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL) said it is closely following reports of military movements and escalating tensions in Tripoli and the western region in general.
It called on all parties to urgently de-escalate, refrain from any provocative actions and work to resolve differences through constructive dialogue. UNSMIL expressed its full support for efforts to reach a peaceful solution, including initiatives led by dignitaries and social leaders, and stressed the fundamental responsibility of all parties to protect civilians.
