Libya’s state National Oil Corporation (NOC) reported yesterday that Sirte Oil and Gas Production and Processing succeeded in transporting quantities of gas produced in the Lahib field estimated at 40 million cubic feet per day.
This comes after completing maintenance work for the 30 inches storage line, in accordance with the recommendations of the smart electronic survey.
The NOC said Sirte Oil has started pumping these quantities, with 17 million cubic feet per day allocated to operate industrial gas lifting compressors in the Zilten field, while the remaining 23 million cubic feet per day will be transported via a 36-inch line to the coastal network of the natural gas system.
Minimizes flaring gas combustion
This measure, the NOC reported, minimizes flaring gas combustion in the Laheeb field and boosts the West Wing’s natural gas supply, reducing reliance on liquid fuels at power plants and saving up significant sums that would have been allocated to the purchase of this fuel.
The NOC said this project comes as part of its endeavour to maximize the use of natural resources throughout the country.
