‎The Attorney General’s Office announced today that its Public Prosecutor had established the identity of the perpetrator of the assassination attempt on Secretary of State for the PM and Cabinet Minister Adel Juma.

It said the Public Prosecutor had ordered the arrest of the suspect who it had established had fled the country for neighbouring Tunisia.‎

It said the Public Prosecutor had ‘‘taken measures to pursue him outside the national jurisdiction through international cooperation mechanisms and ordered the search and arrest of the contributors to the incident’’.‎

It will be recalled that on 13 February there had been an assassination attempt on Juma, using gunfire. The attempt happened while he was in a car on Tripoli’s main east-west motorway (the Second Ring Road) in broad daylight.
