Libya has signed a Cooperation Protocol for the training of Libyan medical and administrative personnel within Japanese medical facilities.
The news was revealed by the Tripoli based Libyan Ministry of Health last Monday 25 December. This follows an official visit to Japan by the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Health for Medical Centers Affairs, Tawfiq Al-Drissi, and his accompanying delegation.
The visit included a meeting at the Japanese Ministry of Health in Tokyo with the Deputy Minister of Health and Member of the Japanese Parliament, Mr. Norihisa Tamura. Libya’s Ambassador to Japan, Ahmed Al-Naas, was also present.
The meeting included:
- Signing a cooperation protocol for the training of Libyan medical and administrative personnel within Japanese medical facilities.
- Discussing the establishment of an advanced institute for scientific research, focusing on diseases and tumours, to enhance scientific cooperation between the two countries.
- Strengthening joint efforts to develop the Libyan health sector, through the transfer of Japanese expertise in medical management and advanced health technologies.
The Ministry said this step comes as part of its vision to strengthen international partnerships and develop the Libyan health system, ensuring the provision of advanced and sustainable medical services.
