Libya has signed a contract with Qatar to operate Misrata heart hospital.
The contract was signed by the Chairman of Libya’s Department of Support and Development of Medical Services (DSDMS) Ahmed Mlitan with the Investment Holding Company of Qatar. The contract is to manage and operate the Misrata Hospital for Cardiovascular Diseases and Surgery.
The DSDMS reports that the contract includes performing heart surgeries for children and adults, in addition to training national cadres from across the country, in a move aimed at strengthening health services and developing local medical competencies.
The company is scheduled to commence operations in February 2025, marking a qualitative leap in specialized healthcare in Libya, the DSDMS said.
