Libya’s state National Oil Corporation announced last Sunday (17 November) that its Sirte Oil and Gas Production and Processing Company recently completed drilling two oil wells using horizontal (Real Time Reservoir Mapping) technology in the Zilten and Wadi fields.
The first well (C355H-6) was drilled in the Zilten field as part of the first phase of the exceptional production increase plan for 2024, while the second well (D27H-149) is part of the development plan for the M reservoir in the Wadi field.
The NOC reported that evaluation tests conducted on 14 November showed that the Zilten field well is capable of flowing at a rate of more than 1,200 barrels of oil per day, while the Wadi field well is recording an estimated rate of about 1,100 barrels per day.
This achievement, the NOC added, reflects Sirte’s commitment to achieving its ambitious goals to increase crude oil production, which recently reached unprecedented rates exceeding 100,000 barrels per day. This achievement, it continued, also reflects the company’s alignment with the NOC’s plan to increase Libya’s oil and gas production.
