Libya and Turkey agree to enhance customs cooperation. The agreement was born out of the meeting held last Thursday (31 October) at the Libyan Customs Authority’s Tripoli headquarters.
The meeting was headed by the Acting Director General of the Customs Authority and the Commercial Attaché and the Security Attaché at the Turkish Embassy, in coordination with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation.
The meeting, the Customs Authority reported, discussed ways to enhance cooperation between customs departments, especially in the areas of exchanging information and expertise. The obstacles facing customs work were also discussed, as well as ways to develop the necessary solutions to unify efforts to protect the economic interests of the two countries and protect the consumer.
The attendees, it reported, agreed to provide technical support and capacity building to the Libyan Customs Authority’s Coastal and Coastal Monitoring Department and to open new areas of cooperation with the Turkish side.
The Turkish side, the Customs Authority reported, welcomed this cooperation and expressed its readiness to implement specialized training courses to enhance maritime customs control, thanks to the availability of experts in this field.
