‎Egyptian food industry exports to Libya during the first seven months of 2024 amounted to US$ 183 million, an increase of 18 percent over the same period of the previous year, Egyptian Food Export Council figures show.

This growth reflects the great confidence in the quality of Egyptian products and their easy access to the Libyan market thanks to free trade agreements, which provides a significant competitive advantage, Youm 7 Egyptian news site reported yesterday.‎

The Egyptian Food Export Council announced the organization of participation in the second Libya International Exhibition for Foodstuffs, Packaging and Hotel Supplies, which will be held in Benghazi, Libya, from 4 to 7 November 2024. It sees this exhibition as an important opportunity to display Egyptian products, expanding their business, and build new business relationships in a market that is one of the main markets for Egyptian food products.‎

Mai Khairy, Executive Director of the Food Export Council, said that this participation comes within the framework of the Council’s efforts to develop exports and in response to the request of the member companies of the Council and the Council’s directions on the importance of moving in strategic markets for Egyptian exports, especially in markets that are difficult to travel to or be present in alone by companies.

She added in her statements that Libya ranked third as the most important importing market for Egyptian processed foods in 2023, with total imports amounting to $ 291 million, representing 5.3% of the total Egyptian exports in the same year, and food exports to Libya witnessed a growth of 8% compared to 2022.
