Speaking on the opening day of the Libya Energy and Economic Summit 2024 (Tripoli, 13 to 14 January) Libya’s Minister of Oil and Gas, Mohamed Aoun, said the importance of the summit is to embody the Libyan state’s orientation towards production, stability, and development.

He said Libya has riches on the African continent that have not yet been explored, and leaving these riches behind is difficult and expensive, and Libya must benefit from them.

He said Libya’s future is very big in the field of oil and gas with large reserves, and 30 to 40 percent of Libya’s area is still unexplored for hydrocarbons.
